Leah Graner

Owner | Creative Director | Master Stylist

Leah Graner is the Owner and Creative Director of Union Salon & Spa, bringing over 25 years behind the chair and a career deeply rooted in both artistry and education. Known for her precision, eye for detail, and ability to see the full vision, Leah has built her reputation on creating transformative, confidence-building results for her guests.

She spent a decade as a hair color and perm educator throughout the East Coast with Joico Professional and ISO Professional, training stylists in advanced color formulation, texture services, and salon growth. Leah also owned Studio 303 Salon in Englewood, Colorado for nearly a decade, successfully building and selling the business before relocating to the coast of North Carolina. It was there she discovered her true passion for developing the next generation of stylists through a hands-on apprenticeship program.

Leah specializes in blonding and foiliage, short precision haircuts, and seamless grey blending—including full transitions into natural grey. She is also Bellami certified in five methods of hair extensions, with a particular love for sew-in wefts to create soft, natural volume and length. With over two decades of experience in hair enhancements, Leah also brings a refined skill set in styling wigs, clip in hair extensions and hair pieces, offering thoughtful solutions for a wide range of guest needs.

As a leader, Leah is deeply committed to education, mentorship, and building a culture of excellence. She believes in training stylists not just in technical skill, but in confidence, connection, and long-term career success—making Union a place where both guests and artists thrive.

Outside of the salon, Leah enjoys life on the water with her husband and three sons, fishing and boating as often as possible. She loves wildlife—especially coastal birds—and spends much of her time outdoors with their three dogs and two cats, or in her garden tending to her collection of coastal perennials.

Maddi Powell

Esthetician

Originally from California, Maddi’s journey has taken her across the country—from working seasonally in national parks and ski resorts to finding her home here on the North Carolina coast. After settling in Wilmington, she discovered her passion for esthetics, and helping people feel confident in their skin quickly became her calling.
Having personally struggled with acne since her teenage years, Maddi understands how deeply skin concerns can impact confidence and self-esteem. Her own experience fuels her passion for corrective skincare, allowing her to connect with clients on a personal level while creating customized treatment plans that deliver real, lasting results.
Maddi specializes in corrective facials with a focus on acne, hyperpigmentation, and overall skin health. She loves combining advanced treatment techniques with relaxing facial massage and lymphatic drainage to create an experience that’s both results-driven and deeply restorative. Her favorite service is a 90-minute customized facial, giving her the time to truly assess your skin, personalize every step of the treatment, and provide the extra care that makes all the difference.

Her philosophy is simple: skincare should never feel intimidating. Whether you’re booking your very first facial or have been on a skincare journey for years, Maddi is committed to creating a welcoming, judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and confident in the plan you create together.
When she’s not in the treatment room, you’ll likely find her outdoors. Maddi loves surfing, snowboarding, skating, boating, Pilates, yoga, lifting weights, or taking coffee walks with her energetic dog. Her love of nature and adventure has taken her across the United States and abroad to Costa Rica and Japan.

Her biggest skincare tip? Wear your sunscreen—every single day. According to Maddi, SPF is the foundation of every successful skincare routine and the most important investment you can make in your skin.
Maddi is excited to welcome guests to Union Salon & Spa, where she loves being part of a team that genuinely cares about both its clients and one another. Her goal is for every guest to leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, educated, and most importantly, confident that they’re on the path to achieving their healthiest skin.
“Beautiful skin starts with understanding your skin—and I’m here to help you every step of the way.”
